We provide a personalised service which fits with your requirements and circumstances. As such the easiest way to obtain details of both our costs and our services is to telephone one of our team (details below) for an initial chat or to come in for a free half an hour appointment.
During this you can discuss any queries or concerns you have, chat through the details of your matter and speak to the person who you will be dealing with. At this meeting we would encourage you to bring all of the paperwork relating to the estate and we will then be able to give you an accurate quotation based on how many hours we believe it will take.
As with all areas of the practice we are keen for you to have an accurate quotation for our fees. With probate matters most of this work will be charged on the hourly rate of the fee earner dealing with these and these are set out below.
The exact cost will depend upon the individual circumstances of the matter for example if there is only one beneficiary and no property then the costs will be at the lower end of the range. If there are multiple beneficiaries, a property and multiple bank accounts and shares etc. then costs are likely to be at the higher end.
The factors likely to impact the number of hours it will take to deal with the matter include:
- The number of assets
- Whether the estate is subject to Inheritance Tax
- The validity of the Will
- The number of beneficiaries
- Whether any of the beneficiaries are charities
- If there is any form of dispute
- Missing beneficiaries
- Missing details about assets
- Foreign assets
We anticipate it will take between x and x hours work to apply for the grant and collect in the assets.
We charge a fixed fee of £1200 plus VAT to obtain the Grant of Probate for a non taxable estate on the basis that we are provided with the valuations and all required information by our clients.
For post grant work i.e. collecting in the assets, arranging the sale of shares, paying the remaining IHT (if IHT has been paid by instalments), settling liabilities, writing to the beneficiaries to request certified copy ID, arranging payment of the legacies, dealing with the transfer of the property or removal of a restriction with the Land Registry, preparing Deeds of Variation if required, and the subsequent distribution of the estate the costs would depend upon the number of hours.
Here is a guide for our fees for the administration of the whole estate:
- For a straightforward estate for e.g. a property and one or two bank accounts our fees will range from £2500-£3500 plus VAT
- For a taxable estate our fees will range from £4500- £6000 plus VAT
- For a complex estate our fees will range from £7000- £15000 plus VAT
Which category your matter falls into will depend upon the factors set out above and we will provide you will an accurate indication once we have had our initial chat.
Catherine Whitaker £280 plus VAT
Shirah Blackwood £280 plus VAT
Priya Sharma £230 plus VAT
Jessica Williams £250 plus VAT
Lauren Williams £190 plus VAT
Elizabeth Moffitt £210 plus VAT
Kaley Penniston £170 plus VAT
Emma Harrison £170 plus VAT
Please note that in isolation this hourly rate will not give you a clear indication of the likely cost of your matter. For example a higher hourly rate is likely to be due to the level of experience meaning that they may be quicker at dealing with matters and the overall cost may balance out with a lower hourly rate. Please therefore contact us to discuss your matter in order that we can provide an accurate indication based on the details of your matter.
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.
