THP THREE QUESTIONS: EMMA WILLOUGHBY, RESIDENTIAL CONVEYANCING
We believe one of the keys to giving our clients a personal service tailored to their needs is getting to know who they are. So, we’ve turned the tables by asking each member of our staff three questions, so you get to know about them. Meet Emma Willoughby a conveyancer in our Residential Property team, based in our Lower Earley, Reading office.
What is the most misunderstood thing about conveyancing?
That conveyancing is just a checklist process. It’s not. Properties are different. People’s circumstances are different. So, every property transaction is different. There is no ‘one size fits all’ procedure. A lot of people don’t see the whole story and all the elements involved, which can cause things to get complex. It’s our job to look at the bigger picture, be proactive with our advice, and ensure the human element is not overlooked.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
That feeling you get when you call a client to tell them they have exchanged. For most people, buying or selling a property is life-changing in some way or another, and it is great being part of that experience. By that point, I’ll have got to know my client really well and will feel part of their lives. The excitement is usually palpable, and it is so fulfilling.
Favourite place to chill out and why?
By the sea. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, windy or full sunshine, being by the sea is my happy place. I don’t have to be lying on a beach; I also love a good coastal walk. There’s something about just listening to the sound of the sea – it’s soul-reviving.
