Online Divorce comes into its own during lock down

The UK’s online divorce system is helping to process and progress proceedings

The online divorce system was introduced in 2018 to help simplify and reduce the stress of getting a divorce. While you should still seek the advice of a solicitor, especially in cases involving issues over arrangements for children and / or formalising and finalising financial arrangements, the online system is helping the firm to promptly process and progress divorce proceedings, as opposed to traditional posted paper applications, amidst the Covid-19 lock-down, the need to socially distance, and with the Court service facing reduced capacity at the moment.

The Head Partnership Solicitors was one of the law firms chosen to be involved in the pilot scheme that enabled online divorce petitions in the UK. Family Law Partner Richard Rodway talks about the online divorce process, its advantages and limitations. Recorded during Lockdown – Spring 2020.
